    Why cant I hear people talking in the things I record with my pvr? Is it a setting or a cable I haven't connected?

    Setting.

    Xbox Guide>all the way right>Preferences>Voice> Play through speakers

    Yeah, I had the same problem with my Dazzle.
    Just do what Reaperz said, but you can also set it to 'Both'
